Below sees more video footage of our Nick in action this past weekend ( Saturday 18th July) at the 12 Bar .Welsh managed to woo the gathered skinhead hordes in the crowd with his acoustic set of his repertoire as he suppported long standing friend Jennie Matthias' new One-Stop Experience first live outing. Nick later joined in the fun and frolics as he played as part of Jennie's band in what was a very successful evening for all involved including other support act Swagga.
NICK WELSH PLAYS " SKINHEAD LUV AFFAIR"
Skaville UK featuring the vocal talents of Rhoda Dakar and Jennie Matthias went back to some successful hunting ground on July 12th with a crowd roaring performance that emulated their overwhelming critical acclaim at the festival in 2007. With a scintillating set that carried a mix of material combined and with Nick Welsh's superb crowd handling skills and audience participation, the group once more tore up the stage to great effect ,even breaking out in a Status Quo classic as they wooed the crowds. Colin Parker, the reporter for 'Get Surrey Review of Guilfest 2009' quoted:
"...Best band/artist?Honestly, Brian Wilson, but if you want something a little different then it would have to be Skaville UK ...."
There are some photos from the gig on the gallery page on this site and see a small clip of how it went down above! It was always going to be pretty inevitable but Skaville supremo Nick Welsh has finally plumbed for starting up his own record label. Welsh, who has done just about everything else there is in the music business has christened the new label, N1 RECORDS. Nick told this site exclusively "I have so many new tracks, ideas and plans that I really do need an outlet for them all. Having my own label will allow me to do what I want to do..." The first release is to be the much awaited Rhoda Dakar and Nick Welsh CD "Back To The Garage",which is a dirty low down rock and roll fest thats features 11 brand new songs written by Nick & Rhoda with a sample of that album here in this section called "Where Are All My friends Today?" for your added enjoyment. The next release on from that will be Skaville UK's third album in as many years titled "3". This will be followed in November by "Parallel Road", the next instalment of the Nick Welsh acoustic tomes and sequel to the critically acclaimed debut "The Soho Sessions". Nick also reiterated that he will be looking for other artists to record for the label. Anyone interested in being involved with this new exciting project should contact Nick either through his/Skaville Uk's myspace page or this site. N1 Records - You heard it here first.....

Not content on keeping busy with Skaville UK ,playing with Rhoda and his solo work, and after contributing to the latest Garry Bushell/The Gonads album,Nick has found himself back working with former Belle Star Jennie Matthias on her latest project, the Jen and Friends "Intelligent Ska",which according to Jen "... This is dedicated to new ska mixed with old ska, dub reggae, deep dub reggae, latin, pop, Jazz and blues. Songs on the site will have been penned by Jennie Matthias and friends. Friends on this site will consist of writers, musicians, programmers, artists, film makers, photographers, producers and of course the people who are inspired by our music and are offering their friendship..." This obviously extends to Nick Welsh, who has worked with Matthias on many occasion namely in their ska punk band Big 5,responsible for classics like "Shame" and "Pussy Whipped"and three superb albums and Jen's frequent trips on their road and in the studio for Skaville UK.On the Jen & Friends myspace you will find the track "Headless Chicken"-This is their latest work together, with Welsh using his musical direction to beef the track up and provide some bass. There is no doubt that these two will work together again in the future. For more info or to listen to "Headless Chicken" go to: www.myspace.com/intelligentska

Skaville UK come home to their native town with an exclusive London show on Saturday 23rd May at the Fiddlers Elbow venue in Kentish Town. The band are now boasting an extra guitarist and are sounding scintillating as they progress up to their new album release of the third Skaville instalment CD entitled "3". Appearing also is the effervescent Rhoda Dakar with support from young up and coming band The Absolute Belters (play an entertaining mix of Oasis/The Specials stylee sounds).
What can we expect from the new look Skaville? Well for a start there is guitarist Benoit Viellefon added to the ranks and more and more up tempo classics. Nick Welsh says some tunes have been refined and tweaked and, as given testament in the recent shows in Wales and Liverpool, sound fantastic live, with Rhoda's spot including"Easy Life" sounding outstanding.
